The Death Education Project
is grounded in African Indigenous technologies that understand death as a practiced, communal skill.
We believe the work of dying well and living well is the same:
learning how to depend on one another, how to stay with endings, and how to open ourselves to rebirth.
When these practices are held consistently, they activate the cultural medicines necessary to guide us.
COME DIE WITH US
Sitting with Shame:
We are taught that needing others is failure and independence is strength, and so we learn to hide our dependence—even from ourselves. Our practice remembers something different, reclaiming dependency as interdependence: the truth that our lives and deaths are shaped by how we allow ourselves to be held.
Death Gives Love Its Meaning:
We stay with endings long enough to let them teach us how to love. What is temporary is sacred because it is temporary, and death gives love its meaning by reminding us to meet each other fully while we can.
There, all things remain possible: Death invites us toward what comes next—the great unknown. This bardo, this threshold, draws us toward the beautiful darkness, where rebirth awaits us.
